In July 2010, the rugby club became the 1st sports club in

New Zealand to have Solar Hot Water Heating installed.

The system was officially turned on by the Honourable Gerry Brownlee, Minister of Energy and Resources.  Others in attendance were the Honourable Peter Dunne, MP for Ohariu, Her Worship the Mayor of Wellington Kerry Prendergast, MP Katrina Shanks, MP Charles Chauvell, Representatives from Weltec, NZRU, WRFU and Azzuro Solar, as well as club life members, sponsor and executive committee.
