Rugby 2011 (Sept & Oct) Event Co-ordinators - Keith and Helen Bond k_h_bond@xtra.co.nz
Johnsonville is the perfect place to act as your central location for anything to do with the greatest rugby event in NZ history, while in Wellington and surrounding districts.
The suburbs of Johnsonville and Newlands are located either side of State Highway 1. It's only a 5 - 10 minutes drive to the Wellington cbd and ferry terminals, 15 - 20 minutes by either bus or train. And only an hour from the Wairarapa and the Martinborough wineries.
With accommodation, bars and cafes, two supermarkets and a shopping centre, Johnsonville has everything you'll need to enjoy your New Zealand rugby experience.
The Johnsonville Rugby Club has been in existence since 1900; a country club in a urban setting, where everybody is family. It is the home of internationals such as All Black Chris Masoe; Manu Samoa's Elvis Sevealli, Ali Koko, Iva Motusaga, Sene Ta'ala and Kepi Fa'avaii; Fiji's Bill Cavubati and Tonga's Brian Woolley.
We have a flat car park area where visitors can park mobile homes. Sites are free and unpowered. The public toilets will be open 24 hours a day and we'll open our changing rooms for showers for an hour or so per day.
Planning is underway to hold various events around Johnsonville; not just rugby related but also outdoor bowls and golf.
These events will be advertised on this site as details are confirmed.
So for the ultimate rugby, and New Zealand, experience don't drive past Johnsonville, call in and see the home of "Rugby in the Hills".
